Overview

Promptr is a local-first application. Your content, mappings, and browsing context stay on your machine. We do not collect, store, or transmit your demo content, presentation notes, or browsing activity.

What the macOS App Does

  • Runs entirely on your Mac. All content files and URL mappings are stored locally in your Documents folder and Application Support directory.
  • Communicates with the Chrome extension exclusively over localhost (127.0.0.1:8765). No data is sent to external servers during normal operation.
  • Shared content folders (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox) are accessed directly on your filesystem through your existing sync service — Promptr does not connect to these services.

What the Chrome Extension Does

  • Sends the current page URL and DOM element context to the Promptr macOS app over a local WebSocket connection (localhost only).
  • Does not send any data to external servers.
  • Does not collect browsing history, page content, cookies, or personal information.
  • Does not inject ads, trackers, or analytics scripts.
  • Requires "all_urls" permission to function on any website you present or demo — this permission is used solely for local context matching.

Network Requests

The only external network requests Promptr makes are:

  • License activation and validation — When you enter a license key, the app contacts our license server (license.mc375.com) to activate and periodically validate your license. This request contains only your license key and a machine identifier. No content or usage data is included.

Data We Collect at Purchase

When you purchase a license, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your payment information. We receive your email address and payment reference from Stripe to generate and deliver your license key. We do not store credit card numbers.

Cookies

The Promptr website (promptr.io) uses only essential cookies required for Stripe checkout. We do not use analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.

Third-Party Services

Data Retention

License key records (email, key, activation status) are retained for the lifetime of the license. If you request a refund and your license is revoked, we retain the record for accounting purposes but deactivate the key.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account data by emailing contact@mc375.com. Since Promptr is local-first, deleting the app and its Application Support directory removes all local data immediately.
